62nd Street bay block – All utility work and concrete work complete. Seashore Asphalt is currently closed for maintenance. Road reconstruction will likely begin in early March

17th Street between Ocean Drive and Dune Drive – All concrete work complete and all utility work complete except for work on the manhole located in the intersection of 17th Street and Dune Drive. Road reconstruction likely to occur in late March.

6th Street between the street end at the west to Dune Drive – Utility work underway and will likely be complete at the end of next week. Concrete work underway and will continue through the end of February. Road reconstruction will likely occur after 17th Street.

Dune Drive between 76th and 78th Streets – All concrete work complete and base paving is complete. Surface paving is yet to be scheduled but will likely occur after all other streets are reconstructed and base paved.

Update:  Wednesday, November 22nd.

Please be advised that the contractor will begin work on southbound lanes of Dune Drive starting Monday, November 27th.  This will require southbound Dune Drive to be closed from 76th-78th streets for the entire week, ending December 1st.  Detours will be in effect; neighborhood notification has been provided.

Update: Friday, November 17th

The contractor, Asphalt Paving Systems, announced that a closure and detour will be in place at 17th Street and Dune Drive starting Friday, November 17th.  The contractor will complete this work by Wednesday, November 22nd with paving completed.  It is likely southbound Dune Drive in that area will be closed to vehicular traffic Monday-Tuesday, November 20th and 21st.  Please observe detour signs in the area.

Update:  Friday, November 3, 2023

Starting Tuesday, November 7th, the contractor anticipates starting concrete work on southbound Dune Drive from 76th Street to 78th Street.  Residents are being notified on November 3rd about the planned work.  At least 13 feet of traffic will be maintained through the work zone, and the road will be re-opened to its entirety at the end of each work day.

The contractor intends to begin concrete work on the Dune Drive portion of this project on Wednesday, October 18th.

Project Summary:

A preconstruction meeting was held Thursday, October 5th to discuss a project that will involve work on four streets in the Borough.  The contract for this work was awarded to Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc. of Hammonton, NJ.  The project is expected to begin on October 16th, 2023 and the project must be completed by April 28, 2024.  The project involves portions of southbound Dune Drive; 6th Street; 17th Street; and the 62nd Street end west of Ocean Drive.  Utility upgrades will be conducted on all streets except southbound Dune Drive as noted in the graphic.

Utility work is expected to begin on or about October 23, 2023 on either 62nd Street or 17th Street.  6th Street will be the final street for utility work.  All utility work must be completed 100 days after the project begins.  All concrete work is to be completed 180 days after the start of the project and begins after all utility work is finished.  All improvements and site restoration is to be completed by April 28, 2024.  Weather and material availability may adjust the schedule.

Work will be performed Monday through Friday from 7:00am-3:30pm.  No work will be conducted Thanksgiving weekend.  It is likely no work will be conducted between the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Residents will have access to driveways at all times.  When water service needs to be temporarily shut off for a few hours, residents will be notified by the contractor.
