Address changes are required in writing by the Assessor’s Office with the property owner’s signature Click here Avalon Change of Address Form for Change of Address Form. Once the Tax Assessor updates the mailing address it will become your new address of record for all Borough mailing.

The Tax and Utility Collector’s office is located at 3100 Dune Drive Avalon, NJ 08202 in the Borough Hall Building.

Property taxes are due quarterly, but the bills are mailed out only once a year, typically in July, reflecting Final 3rd & 4th quarters of the current year and Preliminary 1st and 2nd quarters of the next year.

Tax Payment Due Dates:

  • First Quarter – February 1st,
  • Second Quarter – May 1st
  • Third Quarter – August 1st
  • Fourth Quarter – November 1st

There is a 10-day grace period 

Payments received after the 10th of the month will be charged interest from the due date of the 1st of the month. If the 10th of the month falls on a weekend or holiday it will extend to the next business day.  Reminder:  Every property owner receives a tax bill regardless of whether his or her taxes are escrowed, or not, thank you.

There are several ways to pay your Tax Bill…

Mail-in Payments: Payments by mail can be sent to: Borough of Avalon, Attn: Tax Collector, 3100 Dune Drive, Avalon, NJ 08202. Two drop boxes are available at Borough Hall.

  • One drop box is located outdoors in front of Avalon Borough Hall’s main entrance, at 32nd Street and Dune Drive which is accessible for payment drop-off 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.
  • One drop box is located indoors to the left of the Tax Collectors window on the wall which is accessible during business hours of 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. 

*Please Note: Drop boxes are emptied on business days at 8:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Payments placed in the drop box after 3:45 p.m. will collected and posted the next business day.

Payments Made Through Your Online Banking Services: The Borough of Avalon’s Tax Collector’s Office is automating the process of online payments. Online payments will automatically post to the account number that customers enter in their online banking payment system.

Please Follow These Guidelines When Using Online Banking Services: 

Customers who utilize an online banking payment system will need to create two (2) separate “Payees” (one for property taxes and one for water/sewer utility payments).

Customers with more than one account for property taxes and/or more than one account for utility payments must send separate payments for each
(only one account number per payment).

Online banking customers must include the following information in their bill payment system to ensure the proper application of payments.

Online Bill Pay for Taxes

  • Address: 3100 Dune Drive Avalon, NJ 08202
  • Payee: Borough of Avalon 
  • Must use your eight digit account number in the “Account” field of the bill pay set up (ex: 00001234)

If you have changed mortgage companies or have satisfied your mortgage and your taxes are no longer escrowed refer to your bill for more information as to how to pay your bill moving forward or email the tax office at avalontaxoffice@avalonboro.org with any questions or concerns.

These bills are for new construction, additions and/or alterations/changes to a property. They are mailed once a year in October and are due in addition to the original billing. The added Assessment/Omitted Assessment dates are November 1st, February 1st and May 1st
Payments not received in our office by 4:00 p.m. on the 10th of the month will accrue interest from the due date of the 1st of the month.
