Avalon Borough Hall will close Friday, December 22nd, at 12 Noon in recognition of the Christmas holiday. Borough Hall will be closed on Monday, December 25th, Christmas Day and reopen Tuesday, December 26th. Avalon Community Hall will be open Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm, and Saturday from 8:00am-4:00pm. Community Hall will be closed Sunday and Monday, December 24-25th. The same schedule applies for New Year’s weekend, December 29th-January 1st.
The Avalon Department of Public Works announced that trash collection during both Christmas and New Year’s weeks will occur on the day following the scheduled collection day due to both holidays falling on a Monday.
During both weeks, Monday’s scheduled trash and recycling will occur on Tuesday (December 26th and January 2nd), Tuesday’s scheduled trash and recycling will occur on Wednesday (December 27th and January 3rd), and Wednesday’s scheduled trash and recycling will occur on Thursday (December 28th and January 4th).
Christmas trees will be collected on Thursdays with yard waste with no need to call for an appointment.
A reminder: The courtesy trash and recycle drop off center is open every day throughout the year between the hours of 7:00am-3:00pm, except on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas day. You can drop off your trash and recycling anytime between those hours in the event you do not wish to put containers curbside.
