New Jersey Congressman Jeff Van Drew held a press conference on Friday, November 8th at North Wildwood’s 7th Street beach to discuss a ruling by Department of Interior Secretary David Bernhardt regarding the availability of sand from Hereford Inlet for non-emergency federal beach stabilization projects.  Congressman Van Drew asked Secretary Bernhardt for a meeting involving officials from Avalon, Stone Harbor, and North Wildwood who were all impacted by a decision by Fish and Wildlife’s interpretation of a federal statue for which the Secretary disagreed, and supported all three coastal communities.  Congressman Van Drew, Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi, Stone Harbor Mayor Judy Davies-Dunhour, and North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello all spoke at length about erroneous interpretation by Fish and Wildlife and how that interpretation put lives, property, and environmental assets in Stone Harbor and North Wildwood at risk.
