The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for Tuesday morning, October 29th.  Minor coastal flooding is anticipated at time of high tide.  There is the possibility of rain and minor coastal flooding for our region this week.  Here is information from the National Weather Service about this week’s weather events:

  1.  Another round of coastal flooding is expected with the high tide cycle Tuesday morning into mid day. Moderate flooding is possible along the southern shores of the Raritan Bay, and northern and central New Jersey shore. Widespread minor flooding is expected for the southern New Jersey shore, Delaware Beaches, Delaware Bay, and tidal portions of the Delaware River. There may be additional spotty minor flooding with the high tide cycle on Wednesday. Tidal flooding is not expected on the northeastern Chesapeake Bay at this time.   2. Rain is likely at times Wednesday night into Friday morning. Rain amounts up to 3 inches are possible through this period. We are not expecting any significant flooding concerns with this event. Additionally, we are expecting breaks in the rain, but the exact timing of this is uncertain at this time.

High tide will occur Tuesday, October 29th, at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge at 9:25am and again at 9:48pm.  High tide will occur Wednesday, October 30th at 10:13am and again at 10:37pm.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Coastal  Flood Advisory, which is in effect from 7 AM to 1 PM EDT Tuesday.    * LOCATIONS...Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, Atlantic Coastal    Cape May and Coastal Atlantic.    * TIMING...From 7 AM to 1 PM EDT Tuesday.    * COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one foot of inundation above    ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines    and tidal waterways. In Atlantic County, minor roadway    flooding is possible in Atlantic City, Absecon, Ventnor, and    nearby communities. In Cape May County, minor roadway flooding    is possible in Wildwood, Cape May, Avalon, and other locations    along the shore and the Delaware Bay shoreline. In Cumberland    County, minor roadway flooding is possible in Fortescue, Money    Island, Gandys Beach and other locations near the Delaware Bay    shoreline.    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...    A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is  expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road  closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.    Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal  flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The  water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting  yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to  costly repairs.
