The Borough of Avalon will hold its annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 6th, from 6:00-8:00pm.  The event will feature many activities for children and adults at both the 29th Street parking lot and Surfside Park, both adjacent to the boardwalk and beach in Avalon.

National Night Out in Avalon will feature a huge array of activities for the children including Avalon Public Safety, Public Works, and Rescue vehicles on display where kids can sit inside and meet the professionals on the Public Safety Team.  There will be characters, mechanical rides, bounce houses, face painting, a dunk tank, free hot dogs, and free water ice courtesy of Sundae Best.  Avalon Police Chief Jeffrey Christopher will be in the dunk tank, along with other staff.

New this year will be a live concert by Jersey Shore band “40 North” which will play contemporary country music and Americana music.  “40 North” is scheduled to perform at two casinos in Atlantic City, and this October, will play in Nashville, TN.

The Cape May County Office of Emergency Management will also have on display its mobile command center which helps with emergency responses including storms and other matters throughout the County.

National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.  Participants in Avalon’s National Night Out event include the Avalon Police Department, Avalon Department of Public Works, Avalon Rescue Squad, Avalon Volunteer Fire Department, Avalon Beach Patrol, Avalon Department of Recreation, and other community organizations.
