AHLOA’s Community Connections Features Park Development, Bike Path Expansion

The Avalon Home and Land Owners Association held its “Community Connections” event on Saturday, April 8th at Avalon Community Hall.  Avalon Municipal Engineer Tom Thornton discussed the expansion of the Avalon Bicycle Path for public safety and convenience; Avalon Municipal Planner Scott Taylor discussed a new Surfside Park that will be located adjacent to Avalon Community Hall at the current site of a playground and recreational facility.

The Borough of Avalon intends to seek funding for both projects through the Cape May County Open Space Program.  It is expected that the bike path will be completed in the Fall, 2017, while the Park will be completed by Memorial Day Weekend 2018 or 2019.

Avalon department heads also hosted various tables including a free tree seedling distribution program through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and information about flood hazards by Avalon Construction Official John Tracy.
