Coastal Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service has posted a Coastal Flood Advisory for the Borough of Avalon and other coastal communities in our region.  The Advisory is in effect on Wednesday, May 4th, from 6:00-11:00pm.  There is the potential for minor coastal flooding at time of high tide.  Please exercise caution while driving in the community this evening, and never drive on any street that is flooded as it puts you and your vehicle at risk, and creates an unnecessary wake for other vehicles, homes, and businesses.  Please continue to follow the forecast as similar advisories may be posted for Thursday, May 5th.  High tide will occur at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge shortly before 7:00pm.

Here is the Coastal Flood Advisory posted by the National Weather Service:

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some Road
closures. Usually... the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged... leading to
costly repairs.
