The Borough of Avalon has conducted a drone flyover of the north end beaches of Avalon in advance of our beach fill project which will result in 940,000 cubic yards of new sand to be placed on the beaches from 9th Street south to the northerly limits of 30th Street. Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, LLC of Illinois is using the dredge “Texas” to conduct this beach fill project, which is a joint partnership with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and the Borough of Stone Harbor.
This video was conducted on Sunday, March 5th at an altitude of approximately 400 feet. Avalon will fly the beaches a few additional times during the progression of the project, and fly the beach a final time when the project is completed. Continue to follow the beach fill progress on the special 2017 Beach Fill Project link on the front page of the municipal website, www.avalonboro.net
