This information was prepared by the County of Cape May regarding the construction work on the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City.  The Bridge is expected to be closed until sometime in May, 2019, thank you.

Townsends Inlet Spans 1-7 two week look ahead for the period 10/25/18 thru 11/8/18

As of 10/25/18, the contractor successfully stabilized pier 5 and the cantilevered span 5 to permit the continuation of the demolition process.  By 10/26/18 the superstructure of spans 5,6 and 7 will have been removed from the bridge.  During the week of 10/29/18 thru 11/7/18 the contractor will be saw cutting piers 5 and 6 and will remove these piers.  During that same time period, another crew will be clearing the channel bottom of rock and debris in the location where the new piles are to be installed at new pier 1 and pier 3 locations. Beginning on November 1st, the driving template for pier 1 will be set in place. The installation of the pile bottoms at pier 1 are expected to be installed starting on November 3rd.  The first of two pile sections is expected to be in place by November 6th with drilling and cleaning of the driven pile bottom to occur on November 8th.  It is anticipated that all piles will be in place by December 1st.
