The Borough of Avalon will host a National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 2nd, from 6:00-8:00pm at the beachside parking lot between 29th and 30th streets.  National Night Out is presented by the Avalon Police Department, Avalon Department of Recreation, and Avalon Department of Public Works.

Dozens of free activities will be presented for children and their parents during the event.  Rescue and safety equipment will be on display from various departments including police, fire, rescue, public works, emergency management, and beach patrol.  There will be many free games for children to play, face paintings, magicians, an appearance by the movie character “Minions”, a dunk tank, a tea cups amusement ride, inflatable games, and music.

Avalon is also honored to have a special appearance by the United States Secret Service.  The Service offers “Operation Safe Kids” which provides safety tips and advice for children and parents.  The Service will also provide general awareness of the safety it provides throughout the United States.

Organizations from throughout Cape May County and Avalon will participate including CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), CARA (Coalition Against Rape and Abuse), American Legion Post #331, Avalon Chamber of Commerce, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Middlesex Water Company, Avalon Home and Land Owners Association, Avalon History Center, and others.  The Avalon Police Department will have information regarding bicycle regulations in Avalon and bicycle laws throughout the State of New Jersey.

There will be free hot dogs prepared by American Legion members, and free ice cream samples courtesy of Sundae Best in Avalon.  There will be other free giveaways during the National Night Out celebration.
