Avalon Lions Charity Event Calendar for 2016

The Avalon Lions Charities Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce its Calendar of Events for 2016. This line-up of special events highlights our commitment to the local communities of Cape May County. We sponsor more than 24 events that are on track to raise over $120,000 this year and perform 100’s of community service hours to benefit the needy, blind and challenged in Cape May County!  All proceeds go to charity. 7th Yard Sale:  The largest yard sale in Avalon will be held at the Helen L. Diller Home, 127 26th St. during Avalon’s “Island Wide Yard Sale Weekend”.  Hours are 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  If you have any items that you would like to donate, please call Chuck Covington at (609) 368-5848.

28th White Cane:  The most famous of all Lions Charity events, we solicit donations from for the Blind and Needy at locations outside of Hoy’s on Dune Drive, Wawa on Ocean Drive and Acme Markets on Avalon Blvd and Dennis Road in Cape May Court House.  Please call John Molnar at (609) 602-5617 for additional information.

11th Pancake Breakfast:  Benefits the Avalon Lions Charities Foundation Inc.  Let us cook breakfast for you!  Held at the Avalon Community Hall, 30th and Avalon Ave; 8 a.m. to 11:00 am.  Donations are $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for children. 26th Charity Golf Classic:  Benefits the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for the Blind and visually impaired.  Held at the Avalon Golf Club, 1510 Route 9, North Cape May Court House; registration starts at 10:00 a.m.  Lunch, Dinner, Goody Bag and a Greg Norman Golf Sweater included for each golfer. 4th Glo Sales:  Benefits the Avalon Lions Charities Foundation Inc.  We add to the celebration by selling light-up hats and necklaces on the beach during fireworks.  We will be on the boardwalk at the 28th, 29th, and 30th street entrances.  Please call Joe Perry at (856) 629-1994 for additional information.

23rd Endless Summer Concert: Benefits Family Promise of Cape May County. 1st Holiday Community Food Drive:  Benefits the Holy Redeemer Food Bank. The Avalon Lions, Avalon Free Public Library, Holy Redeemer Food Pantry and Avalon Acme Market partner with the local community to help feed the needy during the holiday season. 16th Pasta Night:  Let us treat you a real taste of Italy, Avalon style!  We’ll cook and serve you a great spaghetti and meatball dinner.  There will also be raffles, auctions and live entertainment; $15 per person, $8 children under 12, takeout available.  Served at the Windrift Hotel, 80th and the Beach, Avalon from 4:30 till 7:30 p.m.  Call Jim Lutz at (609) 368-1224 or Tony Adamoli (609) 368-2197 for additional information.
