Membership in the Avalon Garden Club is open to anyone who is interested in the preservation of the natural resources and the beautification of the Borough of Avalon. We are a nonprofit club registered in the State of New Jersey.
Monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month from September to June at Community Hall, 30th Street and Avalon Avenue, Avalon, NJ. We meet at 9:00 am to socialize, and the general meeting starts at 9:30 am. There is a speaker at each of the meetings who will make a presentation on subjects of interest to gardeners or on topics that could include the wildlife that is all around us.
The club has the use of a greenhouse where seedlings, purchased by club funds, are nurtured until they are able to be planted in the Parks and on the Islands on Dune Drive. Fund Raising Events include Bus Trips, Fashion Show, Spring Plant Sale and Yard Sale to raise money for the club to do its work. There are also Fun Events for the members namely a Breakfast in March, a Flower Show in June and a Holiday Party in December.
We have a liaison with the elementary schools and work with the children to produce flower arrangements for Mother’s Day. We also work with the children so they can show their talents for flower arranging at our annual Flower Show.
The Avalon Garden Club has 100+ members. So joining our club is a good way to meet your neighbors. Whether or not you are a newcomer to our area the Avalon Garden club would welcome you as a member and invites you to participate in its many activities.
