The Borough of Avalon has formed a Floodplain Planning Committee under the advice and direction of Mayor Martin Pagliughi and the Avalon Borough Council.  This committee will be holding several meetings from October through December, 2015 to discuss various ways that the Borough can enhance and improve its flood mitigation efforts.  The implementation of this committee and effort is in accordance with the 2013 CRS (Community Rating System) Coordinator’s Manual.  Under the CRS program, the Borough has been able to attain a Class 5 rating which offers Avalon property owners a 25% discount on flood insurance premiums.  This new effort by the Borough to create a new plan will help earn more points under the CRS program with the goal of maintaining the 25% discount on flood insurance premiums, or possibly increase that discount to 30% if enough points are attained through the process.  Avalon’s Borough Council has approved an executive committee and a volunteer board to serve the Borough and offer guidance for the final plan.  This plan will also be discussed by Avalon Business Administrator Scott Wahl at the next AHLOA meeting scheduled for Saturday, November 14th, at the Avalon Senior Center at 10:00am.

All planning meetings will be held in Avalon Borough Hall at 2:00pm
